Gustav Peter Ermecke (born February 28, 1907 in Hörde , Grafschaft Mark , † February 17, 1987 in Witten , Westphalia ) was a German priest. He became known as a moral theologian and social ethicist.

Life

Ermecke studied Romance and English from 1926 at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn, and from 1927 also law . In 1929 he was promoted to Dr. phil. PhD . In 1932 he entered the Leokonvikt of the Archdiocese of Paderborn and studied at the Archbishop's Philosophical-Theological Academy . In 1933 he was at the Westphalian Wilhelms University for Dr. iur. utr. PhD. On 28 March 1936 he received in Paderborn Cathedral, the ordination . After pastoral work, he became second prefect of studies at the Leoninum in 1939. During this time he was in Munster for Dr. theol. PhD. Under the new Paderborn Archbishop Lorenz Jaeger , he became archbishop chaplain and secretary in 1941. In 1945 he received a call to the chair for moral theology and social ethics at the Paderborn Academy. In 1975 he moved to the chair for Christian social studies at the Ruhr University in Bochum . He was considered an important representative of the late neo-scholasticism after the Second Vatican Council .

Ermecke was a canon of honor, an honorary papal prelate, a peritus of the Pontifical Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith and a member of the Papal Roman Theol. Academy. He was a member of the Catholic student associations KDSt.V. Ripuaria Bonn , the Forest Academic Association Rheno-Guestfalia (Hann.
