Gustav Hilger (District Administrator)

Gustav Hilger (born November 8, 1904 in Weilheim in Upper Bavaria , † January 30, 1991 in Schongau ) was a German local politician .

Career

Hilger completed his studies with a doctorate . In 1935 he joined the NSDAP and in 1942, in his function as District Administrator of Hilpoltstein, he was jointly responsible for bringing farmer Ludwig Wittmann to the Dachau concentration camp . He died a little later in the concentration camp.

In December 1948, Hilger was elected to succeed Franz Josef Strauss as district administrator of the Upper Bavarian district of Schongau . In the local elections in 1952, 1958 and 1964, the CSU member was confirmed in office and was thus Schongau district administrator from 1948 to 1970.

Hilger had been a member of the Catholic student association KDStV Tuiskonia Munich since 1925.

Gustav Hilger was awarded the Bavarian Order of Merit , the Communal Merit Medal in gold and the German Red Cross .
