Gustav Nötzold (born October 4, 1871 in Cainsdorf , † November 27, 1939 in Budenheim ) was a miner and later locally known dialect poet of the western Ore Mountains , who also wrote songs, poems and stories in High German.

biography

Nötzold was the son of an iron foundry from the Cainsdorf Queen Marienhütte and had 14 siblings. After attending the public school in Werdau , where his parents moved in 1879, he first became a day boy in the Zwickau coal field in 1886 . At the age of 17 he attended the mountain school in Zwickau , after which he started his civil service career as a climber and district climber in mining . From 1919 to 1937 he was the manager of the Budenheim limestone quarries of the Bonn Mining and Huts Association (Oberkassel).

Nötzold joined the NSDAP early on and in 1933 became the provisional mayor of Budenheim.

Nötzold was married. His wife Hilma died a few months before him in February 1939.

Works

His best-known publications include the nine booklets in the “ Kuhlbröckle ” (= coal crumbs ) series, published between 1906 and 1939, with anecdotes , poems and stories from the everyday life of the Zwickau miners. He also gave war propaganda postcards with seals such as "German confidence" and " The Big Bertha " in the First World War in Selbstverlag out. He was a member of the Zwickau men's choir "Liederkranz". Writings of his work for the choral society are now in the Zwickau City Archives.
