Gustav von Glasenapp

Gustav Emil Ferdinand von Glasenapp (born November 2, 1840 in Stolp , † October 12, 1892 in Berg Diwenow ) was a Prussian lieutenant and military writer.

Life

family

Gustav was a member of the Pomeranian castle-seated noble family von Glasenapp . His parents were the Prussian colonel z. D. Ferdinand von Glasenapp (1814–1898) and Pauline von Schack († 1891). He married Pauline Wiese (1849–1880) in 1867. The marriage resulted in three children, Margarethe (1868–1882), Hedwig (1870–1870) and Paul (1872–1883), who died young. As a widower, he went into a second marriage in 1888 with Luise Hinz (1855–1898).

Career

Glasenapp began his officer career in the Prussian army in 1852 at the cadet institute in Culm and in 1855 moved to the cadet regiment in Berlin . In 1856 he joined the 5th Hussar Regiment , where he was promoted to portepee ensign in 1857 and second lieutenant in 1858 . In 1865 he received his farewell as a lieutenant .

Afterwards he devoted himself to literary, especially military studies. He was editor of the new military papers , but also of the war newspaper 1870/71 and the NCO newspaper .

After his residence, first in Berlin , then in Potsdam , he died as a villa owner in Berg Diwenow.
