Gustav von Hagenow
Paul Gustav von Hagenow (born June 16, 1813 in Langenfelde ; † September 28, 1876 there ) was a German lawyer and member of the Frankfurt National Assembly .
Life and accomplishments
As the son of a wealthy landowner, Gustav von Hagenow was born in 1813 on the Pomeranian estate Langenfelde near Grimmen and grew up there. From 1830 to 1832 he studied law in Bonn and Greifswald . He had already sympathized with the fraternities in Bonn , and in 1832 he became a member of the Germania Bonn fraternity . As a member of the old Greifswald fraternity / Arminia , which he joined in 1832, he was arrested in 1836 after a denunciation and sentenced to six months in prison, which he served in Greifswald. After completing his studies, he devoted himself to the administration of the inherited manors Glewitz and Langenfelde and became a member of the Pomeranian Provincial Parliament .
Hagenow was elected to the Frankfurt National Assembly for the 14th constituency of the province of Pomerania ( Grimmen ) , to which he belonged from May 18, 1848 to January 23, 1849. From May 26, 1848 he was a member of the Committee for the Navy and from May 5, 1848 of the Committee for the People's Armament . Politically, he felt that he belonged to the Rechter Centrum Casino faction . He did not appear as a speaker. His successor in the mandate was Conrad Matthies , professor in Greifswald.
From 1852 to 1863 Hagenow was first deputy district administrator and later district administrator of the district of Grimmen . After political disputes with the Prussian government due to his liberal stance, he was removed from office in 1863. Until 1875 he was director of the Kreissparkasse.
Hagenow fell ill after a hunting accident and died of its consequences in 1876.
His first marriage was to Luise Finelius (1813-1859), a daughter of the Greifswald professor Friedrich Finelius . Her older son Gustav von Hagenow became district administrator of the district of Grimmen, her younger son Maximilian von Hagenow became general of the cavalry.
