Gustav "Gustl" Müller (born October 23, 1903 in Bayrischzell ; † September 20, 1989 ibid) was a German skier who was active in the Nordic combined and its individual disciplines cross-country skiing and ski jumping .

Career

Müller belonged to the Bayrischzeller Kleeblatt together with Fritz Pellkofer and Hans Bauer . In 1922, the athletes finally founded the Bayrischzell Ski Club. Müller achieved his first success at the German Championships in 1927, where he won the title in individual Nordic Combined and with the relay in cross-country skiing . He then received a starting place for the Nordic World Ski Championships in 1927 in Cortina d'Ampezzo . In the ski jumping singles, Müller achieved 27th place there.

The following year he started at the 1928 Winter Olympics in St. Moritz . In the individual combination he reached rank 21. At the German Championships in 1929 he repeated his success in the combination. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in Zakopane in 1929 , Müller reached the 28th place in the individual ski jumping with jumps on 42 and 49 meters.

In 1922 Pellkofer, Bauer, Müller and Wastl Bucher founded the Bayrischzeller Ski School. At the German Championships in 1930, Müller won three titles for the first time. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in Oberhof in 1931 , Müller started his third world championship. With jumps on 54 and 53.5 meters, he reached 46th place in the ski jumping individual. A little later he won his third and last German championship title in combination as well as another gold medal with the 4 × 10 km cross-country skiing relay. In 1932 he repeated his success with the cross-country relay for the last time.

At the Nordic World Ski Championships in Innsbruck in 1933 , Müller narrowly missed a medal in the individual combination as fourth. Also in the individual ski jumping he was fifth just behind the medal ranks.

He made his last international start with the Nordic World Ski Championships in Sollefteå in 1934 . There he succeeded with the 38th place in the ski jumping individual a placement in the midfield.
