GutsMuths house
The GutsMuths-Haus is a listed building in the city of Quedlinburg in Saxony-Anhalt . The founder of the German gymnastics movement Johann Christoph Friedrich GutsMuths was born in the building.
The half-timbered house , located east of the town's market square at Pölle 39 , is a UNESCO World Heritage Site .
Architecture and history
The house was built around 1750, has a gable and features elements of early classicism . A varied decorative lining of the compartments is striking . In 1759 Johann Christoph GutsMuths was born in the house.
Around 1900 a shop and today's gate were added to the ground floor. There is a plaque on the building indicating GutsMuths. The GutsMuths monument is not far from the house .
