Architecture and history

The northern part of the building is a gatehouse built in 1580, which represents the rest of the former town stalls . While the basement was built as a massive construction, the upper floor was built in half-timbered construction in the Renaissance style. The compartments are, rather unusual, filled with sandstones . The stones come from quarries north of the city at Steinholz or Lehof . The royal stables were used to house horses belonging to the city of Quedlinburg and the city carriage . To the south is a three-storey, palace-like residential building in half-timbered construction, with the facade being erected in a massive form. The core of the house dates back to the middle of the 16th century. However, the facade is characterized by the classicism style. The house is mentioned in the literature as an object on which the decorative shape of the fan rosette was used.

Inside the building, fittings such as stairs and doors from different eras from 1700 onwards have been preserved.
