The Gymnasium Egeln was a high school with a music-oriented focus with a focus on choral singing. It was in the small town of Egeln . The school was closed on July 31, 2014. Until the end of the 2015/16 school year, the school building was run as an external location of the Dr. Frank Gymnasium Staßfurt . The school site was finally closed on June 24, 2016. There is no subsequent use concept.
The catchment area of the grammar school was the community of Egelner Mulde , Kroppenstedt and the districts of Schneidlingen , Groß Börnecke and Cochstedt of the city of Hecklingen .

The main building, which has housed all classes since the 2012/2013 school year, is in the north of the city, directly on the B 81. Building II, which has not been used by the grammar school in the last few years, is located in the city center, on Pestalozziplatz .

The Egeln grammar school was founded in 1925 as an advanced secondary school. During the GDR era it was EOS " Minna Faßhauer ". At that time there was also a boarding school for the school. After the fall of the Wall, it became the Egeln Gymnasium in 1991. The boarding school was closed. In 2009 and 2013 no fifth grade could be accepted due to insufficient student numbers. In 2014 the school was completely closed and converted into a branch of the Dr.-Frank-Gymnasium Staßfurt . The school site was finally closed on June 24, 2016. The Salzlandkreis was unable to present a subsequent use concept for either school building.
Course offer
As a state general education school, the Gymnasium Egeln was subject to the framework guidelines of the state of Saxony-Anhalt. As a special subject, the subject of choral vocal training has been offered as an elective in class 9 since 1999 . Since the school year 2008/2009, the grammar school had a special school profile: School with a focus on music - focus on choral singing . This profile also offered students of all grades an additional weekly lesson in "choral vocal training" and also opened up the possibility of free instrumental lessons in piano, guitar and keyboard.
Choirs
The high school Egeln had a distinctive choir system. The pupils in the fifth to seventh grades could sing in the children's choir of the grammar school, from then on in the mixed choir of the grammar school. In 1997 the choir Young Voices - Egelner Kammerchor was founded , which consists of alumni and high school students. All of these choirs were led by Dr. Ralf O. Schubert directed. In 2006 the Egeln Girls Chamber Choir was added.
The high school co-hosted the international choir festival “ Sine musica nulla vita ”.
