The Gymnasium Gaimersheim (GG) is a general high school with a linguistic and scientific-technological branch in Gaimersheim in Upper Bavaria . The carrier is the Zweckverband Gymnasium Gaimersheim with the district of Eichstätt and the city of Ingolstadt as members. The chairman of the association is the Eichstätter district administrator and the deputy chairman of the association is the Lord Mayor of Ingolstadt . Of the four association councils, three are sent from Eichstätt and one from Ingolstadt.

history

In the summer of 2007, the Eichstätt district and the city of Ingolstadt decided to set up a new grammar school and found a special purpose association. The association was founded on May 6, 2008 with the publication of the statutes.

An architecture competition preceded the construction in 2008. The winner from 377 submissions was a design by architects Stefanie Fuchs and Arnd Rudolph from the architects' office Fuchs und Rudolph.

On March 25, 2009, the city began with the new building; in autumn of the same year (September 3rd (?)) a symbolic foundation stone was laid in the shell. The new school building with 107 rooms on three floors started operating in the 2010/2011 school year.

During excavations on the south side of the Hochholzer Berg, where the grammar school is located today, the approx. 2400 year old grave of a woman from the time of the Celts was found. The valuable find is part of a smaller settlement from the late Iron Age . A tetrahedron by the artist Josef Friedler in the western courtyard of the school shows where other things were found . Among other things, arrowheads and an iron bridle were found.

From November 4, 2015 to January 2016, initially 200 and later only 50 asylum seekers were housed in the school gym. Then the roof of the five-year-old gymnasium was repaired due to corrosion damage. The reason for this was a "manufacturing defect at the manufacturer of a sealing element" which caused rust stains on the supporting shell of the roof.

In the summer of 2017, the first graduation class in its history was passed.
