Hede is a place in the Swedish province of Jämtlands län and the historic province of Härjedalen .
Hede is located about 70 km northwest of Sveg on the upper reaches of the Ljusnan river . Hede belongs to the municipality of Härjedalen and is an important tourist center . In the village there is a local museum and a church from 1613, rebuilt in 1775 in the Rococo style .
About 20 km south of Hede is the Sonfjället National Park , known for its brown bear population . In May 2009, an incident was reported from Hede, in which a brown bear chased an elk through the village and finally brought it down in a children's playground.
On the outskirts is the Hedebacken , a ski jumping hill that was used for jumping from 1999 to 2001 as part of the international ski jumping Continental Cup . It serves as a training center for the Hede IK and was the venue for the Swedish Ski Jumping Championships in 2003 and 2005.
