action

The US government maintains chemical health centers, so-called HOPE centers, in several third world countries , which apparently experiment with viruses for the benefit of mankind . In reality, these research institutions - under the guise of the health authorities - are supposed to solve the threat of overpopulation in developing countries and infect the locals so that they can cannibalistically attack their fellow human beings. Such a test facility is located in New Guinea , for example , where a serious accident occurs. The deadly virus is set free, employees are infected, who are resurrected after their death and attack everything and everyone. Within a very short time, the whole area is contaminated by human-meat-hungry revenants, the zombies . The ailing security system ultimately causes a catastrophe of unimaginable proportions. Fortunately, the scientific director of the HOPE Center succeeds in making an emergency call.

As a result, four members of a special anti-terrorist unit, who just bloodily thwarted a hostage-taking of the US consulate by terrorists in Spain and liquidated all the hostage-takers, received the order to travel to New Guinea in order to destroy all incriminating documents from the test series. Ironically, the left-wing motivated terrorists who are shot by the elite units demanded an immediate halt to production and research by the HOPE group.

The four-man special military unit around Lt. Mike London eventually reaches its destination in the Pacific. On the way to their area of action, the soldiers traverse unknown terrain, encountering the undead whose existence is beyond their horizon of experience. Nevertheless, they successfully defend themselves against the zombies and soon meet the French journalist couple Lia and Pierre, who are making a documentary on behalf of a US television station. The two reporters are, however, a thorn in the side of the men who strive for discretion. Since the soldiers do not want to endanger the two civilians unnecessarily - the northern province of the country is officially “contaminated” - they are simply dragged along to their destination. In the meantime, the adventurers have to fend off constant attacks from the living dead until they finally reach the HOPE center, slightly decimated. The now three soldiers as well as Lia and Pierre find an obviously abandoned factory site. The quintet immediately goes to the control center, where they are attacked again and one after the other killed or infected. Lia dying, she discovers the real purpose of the HOPE factories: to produce viruses so that the hungry people of the world tear each other apart.

At the end of the film, the epidemic also spreads to the wealthy industrialized countries . The whole world is attacked by the deadly viruses.

Reviews

The lexicon of international films wrote that the film was "a tired copy of the 'zombie' films in which man-eating undead attack the living." Furthermore, the production was "a cannibalism orgy charged with pseudo-philosophical considerations."
