history

The donation of the "Herda" desert to the Veßra monastery by Count Poppo from Henneberg in 1144 is the first known documentary mention of Haard.

At the location of the “Bear Castle” and the cemetery, the monastery created a provost house, which was managed by Father Saxo for the first 40 years. At the same time the former viticulture of the place developed.

First the Hennebergers, then the bishops of Würzburg, provided the landlords of Haard.

In spite of the gains in land area through clearing, arable farming did not offer the inhabitants of Haard enough employment opportunities, so that they also took on work in the service sector in Bad Kissingen and in the sandstone quarry.

When the Aschach winery was dissolved, Haard was assigned to the Münnerstadt district court in 1804 .

In the years 1869–1871 the construction of today's Haarder Church replaced a previous church that was located on the hill by the cemetery.

After Haard initially belonged to the parish of Niederlauer , the place was assigned to the parish of Nüdlingen by Prince-Bishop Julius Echter von Mespelbrunn on February 22, 1590, partly because of the long distance to Niederlauer .

In 1925 Haard got a power supply. In 1954/55 a water supply system was built in the village, and in 1965/66 the new school. The local sewer system was installed in 1966/67.

On January 1, 1972, Haard became part of Nüdlingen as part of the municipal reform, after 269 out of 300 valid votes cast in favor of the incorporation in a public survey. The integration agreement regulated, among other things, the use of the entire state subsidy amounting to 422,938 DM for the expansion of the Altortstraßen and the preservation of the place name Haard, even if the place should form a structural unit with Nüdlingen.

In 1979 the local land consolidation was completed.
