Schwedt harbor
The port of Schwedt is an inland port in the Brandenburg town of Schwedt / Oder . It is connected to the Oder via the Hohensaaten-Friedrichsthaler waterway .
history
The port of Schwedt went into operation in October 2001 after a two-year construction period, with an investment of € 27 million . It was created as a port and branches off the Hohensaaten-Friedrichsthaler waterway at kilometer 125.6. It has a direct connection to Berlin and via Stettin to the Baltic Sea . In March 2011, the Leipa paper mill carried out a test drive under the supervision of the Technical University of Berlin. A coaster was used to transport 1250 t of paper rolls directly from the port of Schwedt across the Baltic and North Sea to Great Britain without stopping. Since 2011 there has been a connection to the Angermünde-Schwedt railway via a connecting track . The paper mill is located immediately south of the port.
Current state
The port of Schwedt has a port basin that is 350 × 75 m in size. The quay facilities are 700 m in length and are sufficient for six berths. Both quays have a crane with 45 t lifting capacity each. The port has an approximately 30 hectare industrial area, which is only partially occupied.
