Hagen Matzeit

Hagen Matzeit (born December 10, 1970 in Dohna ) is a German opera singer ( countertenor / baritone ), film composer and producer .

Life

Hagen Matzeit grew up in Berlin-Prenzlauer Berg and, after completing his training as an electrical signal mechanic in Berlin, began studying singing ( baritone ) and singing education with Bernd Riedel . In addition to his studies, Hagen Matzeit took part in directing courses from Ruth Berghaus , Peter Konwitschny and Harry Kupfer . In 1999 he received a scholarship from the Richard Wagner Association .

He has been a guest soloist at the Komische Oper Berlin for several years. So sang and played matzoh a. a. in Zwei Berliner in Paris and Der Bürger als Edelmann . He also appeared in classical opera in Falstaff as Pistol and as Dancairo in Harry Kupfer's Carmen production and as Sid in Albert Herring . He made his musical debut here in Sweeney Todd in 2005 in the role of Anthony. The Komische Oper Berlin engaged him in 2006/2007 as a soloist in the New Year's concerts alongside Dagmar Manzel and Jochen Kowalski .

Engagements led Matzeit to the Schauspiel Frankfurt , Nationaltheater Mannheim , the Opéra Bastille in Paris and the Teatro Capitol in Toulouse . He has also performed at the Holland Festival in Amsterdam , Arts Music Bruxelles and Melbourne Australian International.

His repertoire includes different stylistic epochs from early music to baroque (including participation in a tour with the Berlin Bach Academy through Costa Rica ) to contemporary music (including part of Hans Scholl in White Rose at the Théâtre Royal de la Monnaie in Brussels , title role of Jakob Lenz on Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires ).

In 2006 Hagen Matzeit sang and played in the Casanova revue of the Berlin Friedrichstadt-Palast in the two vocal categories baritone and countertenor as well as in the Christmas revue Jingle Bells 2007 . In 2008 he performed at the Gala Classic Open Air in the Herrenkrug in Magdeburg . Matzeit has also been seen in several television productions so far, including a. as a soloist in the operetta and film Schlager Gala of the Elbe Festival Wittenberge and classical galloping at rbb - television .

With his brother Friedemann Matzeit he also writes music for theater, film and television etc. a. The birds - Deutsches Theater Berlin . Hagen Matzeit also forms the pop music duo SONICDIVA together with his brother . In the 2007/08 season he appears as Ägeus in the new production Theseus and Robin Hood in the Komische Oper Berlin.
