The Vienna Krottenbachstrasse stop is in the 19th district of Döbling . It is located on the suburban line , is served by the S45 S-Bahn line and has two exterior platforms , which, together with the two main tracks , are spanned by a steel station hall . The stop is named after Krottenbachstraße , which runs parallel to the tracks north of the station. There is also the bus stop of the same name on line 35A.
history
Although a Krottenbachstrasse station was already provided for in the early plans for the Vienna Stadtbahn from 1892, the Commission for Transport Systems in Vienna ultimately decided not to install the suburban line when it opened in 1898, as the area was hardly populated at that time. Only after the line had been reactivated for passenger traffic on May 31, 1987, the Austrian Federal Railways had the station built by the architects Alois Machatschek and Wilfried Schermann in a postmodern style based on Otto Wagner's style.

The renovation aimed at preserving historical monuments met with approval, although some architecture critics voiced concerns about the stylistic adaptation of the newly built stations - for example in Profil (magazine) June 1, 1987
