The stop Wien Praterkai is on the 2nd Viennese district Leopoldstadt . It is located on the Laaer Ostbahn , directly at the southwest end of the Stadlauer bridge . The S80 S-Bahn trains stop here every half hour .

history

The Stadlauer Brücke - Lusthaus stop was opened in 1893. In 1994 and 1995, operations had to be temporarily suspended because the construction of the Freudenau power plant and the associated increased level of the Danube meant that the railway bridge and the stop had to be raised by several meters. The newly built stop was named Wien Praterkai . Until 2008, tram line 21 coming from Schwedenplatz turned north of the Praterkai stop, but with the opening of the U2 extension to the stadium , line 21 was discontinued and the tracks removed.

The Donaukaibahnhof of the Donauuferbahn is located directly below the stop . For years the population and politics have been calling for the extension of the S45 (“suburb line”) from the current terminus at Wien Handelskai here and the construction of a transfer station at Wien Praterkai , but at the moment there are no official plans on the part of the ÖBB.
