history

At the beginning of the 1990s, the City of Vienna and the ÖBB decided to double-track and straighten the airport express train from Wien Rennweg to Wien Schwechat Airport . These plans also included the construction of the Vienna Bio Center St. Marx stop between the campus of the same name and the former Aspang train station. With the timetable change on December 15, 2002, the expanded line including this stop was ceremoniously opened to traffic. Since then, an S-Bahn has been running every 30 minutes from Vienna Floridsdorf to the airport, which is extended every hour to Wolfsthal , and the CAT also runs through the stop every half hour . While the exit on the south side of the bus stop leads to the Landstraßer Hauptstrasse / Leberstrasse intersection , the north exit leads to Fred-Zinnemann-Platz . Here, on the site of the former Aspangbahnhof, the urban development project Aspanggrund was built until 2018 . Some of the buildings created here are passive houses .
