Carl Ludwig von Ingersleben (born April 6, 1709 in Wolmirsleben , † December 29, 1781 in Heiligenbeil ) was a Prussian major general , chief of garrison regiment No. 11 and knight of the order Pour le Mérite .

Life

origin

Carl Ludwig was a son of the Brandenburg major in the regiment "von Mörner", master of Wolmirsleben and Wanzleben Hans Rudolf von Ingersleben († 1717) and his wife Sophie Auguste, née Brandt von Lindau.

Military career

Ingersleben came to the “Stille” infantry regiment in 1726 and on March 24, 1738, he became Premier Lieutenant . Then he came to the Füselierregiment "Lehwald" and became captain of the grenadiers . On October 20, 1756 he became a major in the “Manstein” infantry regiment , which was made up of Saxons captured during the siege near Pirna . When the regiment disbanded, Ingersleben came to Stettin , where he took over the grenadier battalion. It was formed from two grenadier companies from the Garrison Battalion in Stettin, one company from the Tettau Land Battalion and one company from the Stosch Land Battalion. Land battalions actually have no grenadier companies. The Duke of Bevern therefore simply declared the most suitable men of the battalions to be grenadiers. The officers for the grenadier battalion came from the former Saxon regiments.

After the Peace of Hubertusburg , the battalion was not disbanded, but replaced the grenadier battalion "Unruh" . This was taken prisoner when Glatz surrendered . Ingersleben became lieutenant colonel and commander of the Füselierregiment "Braun" in 1764 , and in 1766 he became a colonel. In May 1769 he received the "Mellin" garrison regiment. In June 1777 he was appointed major general.

Ingersleben took part in the Silesian Wars and fought in the battles of Mollwitz , Chotusitz , Hohenfriedberg , Kesselsdorf , Prague and Reichenbach . With the relief of Kolberg he acquired the order Pour le Mérite.

He died in Heiligenbeil in 1781.
