history
In the early 1990s, the ÖBB and the City of Vienna, the Rail Link resolved Flughafen Wien-Schwechat double track and level freely expand to offer more features. A new stop above Geiselbergstrasse was also planned, which, together with the Vienna St. Marx stop , was supposed to replace the Aspangbahnhof, which is poorly located in terms of traffic. The Vienna Geiselbergstrasse stop was built in an elevated position north of Geiselbergstrasse and parallel to Leberstrasse. A 160 m long central platform was built in an S-curve, from which an underpass between Leberstraße and Am Kanal can be reached via a staircase in the north, while the eponymous Geiselbergstraße and the stop of line 11 can be reached via a staircase and a lift to the south . With the timetable change on December 15, 2002, the new stop was opened to traffic. The required and planned 15-minute intervals of the S7 were not implemented, instead, since then, in addition to the half-hourly S-Bahn, the CAT , which connects Wien Mitte with the airport non-stop, has also run every 30 minutes .
