The Hammerbach (Czech Hamerský potok ; German Lohbach ; on the lower course in Czech also Tichá ) is an approximately 32 kilometers long, left or northwestern tributary of the Mies (Mže) in the Czech Republic and Germany .

course

The Hammerbach rises in Bohemia in the Upper Palatinate Forest (Český les) on the corridors of the Stará Voda community . Its headwaters are located southeast of the 865 meter high Čupřina (Schopfberg) near the Slatina desert ( Slatinský les ; Lohhäuser ).

The Hammerbach - now called Lohbach - flows south into the Bavarian Mähring , the only municipality on the river in German territory. After a few kilometers, after passing Neumühle and the Mähringer hamlet Stuhlstein , the water turns back to Bohemia, where it flows in a south-easterly direction through Broumov (Promenhof), Planá (Plan) and Brod nad Tichou (Bruck am Hammer).

Two kilometers south of Brod, the Hammerbach forms the romantic Karolinengrund (Karolina dolina), which was named on plan after Countess Karoline von Nostitz-Rieneck. The former mining area and the industrial site are now a recreational area.

In which the municipality Kočov ( Gottschau belonging) Village Ústí nad Mží ( Truss ) the hammer brook flows into the Mies , a western tributary of Beroun (Berounka).
