Hamur ( Turkish for dough ) is a district town and district in Turkey . Both belong to the eastern Anatolian province of Ağrı . Hamur County is centrally located in the province and borders the Van Province to the east . The district town is home to around 18 percent of the district's population.
The district of Hamur, formed in 1958, consists of 45 villages ( Köy ) with an average of 348 inhabitants in addition to the district town . All villages have less than a thousand inhabitants, Kaçmaz is the largest (823 inhabitants).
