Handen is a settlement in the Swedish province of Stockholm County and the capital of the Haninge municipality . According to the definition for Swedish localities ( Tatort ), however, it belongs to the locality of Stockholm . Around 11,500 people live in Handen.

history

Handen was initially a small village that only began to grow in 1901 with the construction of the Stockholm-Nynäshamn ( Nynäsbanan ) railway line . In 1931 the settlement received a station for the Stockholm suburban train ( Pendeltåg ). There is also a bus terminal at the train station with connections to the surrounding towns. In 1989 a large covered shopping center was built that also houses the municipal administration.

Sports

At Rudans Gård amusement park, Handen offers a variety of sporting opportunities. There is both a mountain bike loop and an illuminated jogging loop here. The latter is prepared for skiing in winter with snow cannons. There is also a disc golf course with 18 "holes" in the park .
