The Kassel Chamber of Crafts is one of 53 chambers of crafts in the Federal Republic of Germany; it is based in Kassel . The Chamber of Crafts has 16,272 member companies (December 31, 2018) with around 92,200 employees, of which around 7,344 are trainees. It represents the interests of the entire trade in North, East and Central Hesse. The Chamber's operations achieved a turnover of around 9.15 billion euros in 2018.

The chamber district extends to the following cities and districts in Hesse : District-
free city of Kassel and districts of Fulda , Hersfeld-Rotenburg , Kassel-Land , Schwalm-Eder , Waldeck-Frankenberg , Werra-Meißner , ( Kassel administrative district) and the Marburg-Biedenkopf district ( District of Giessen ).

history

In the amendment to the Reichsgewerbeordnung dated June 24, 1897, the following was standardized: “Chambers of craftsmanship are to be established to represent the interests of your district.” As a result, chambers of craftsmanship were established across the empire and in 1900 in Kassel as well. On April 1, 1943, the Gauwirtschaftskammer Kurhessen was formed and the Chamber of Crafts dissolved. In addition to the Chamber of Crafts, the Kassel Chamber of Commerce and Industry was incorporated into the Gau Chamber of Commerce . After the Second World War , the Chamber of Crafts was rebuilt.
