Richard Wurbs (born August 26, 1920 in Kassel ; † September 7, 2018 ) was a German politician ( FDP ). From 1965 to 1984 he was a member of the German Bundestag and from 1979 to 1984 Vice-President of the German Bundestag .

Life

After graduating from high school, Wurbs took part in the Second World War in the anti-aircraft artillery. He last served as a first lieutenant. After the war he completed an apprenticeship as a bricklayer, which he completed with the master's examination. This was followed by an engineering exam (specializing in building construction). Then he managed the construction business that he had taken over from his father. Wurbs was President of the Kassel Chamber of Crafts and Vice President of the Central Association of German Crafts .

1959 Wurbs joined the FDP . From 1960 to 1968 he was a city ​​councilor in Kassel, 1963 district chairman, 1971 district chairman of North Hesse.

Richard Wurbs had been a member of the Bundestag since 1965 , where he mainly devoted himself to economic and SME policy. In 1965 he was a member of the Committee for Regional Planning, Building and Urban Development and in 1969 became a deputy member of the Economic Committee. In 1979 he was elected Vice President of the Bundestag as the successor to Liselotte Funcke and was confirmed in office in 1980 and 1983. He was Vice President of the German Bundestag from November 28, 1979 to December 12, 1984.

On December 13, 1984 Richard Wurbs resigned his Bundestag mandate and thus also resigned from the office of Vice President. Richard Wurbs died at the age of 99.
