Hannes Germann (born July 1, 1956 in Schaffhausen , resident in Merishausen ) is a Swiss politician ( SVP ) and a member of the Council of States . In 2013/2014 he was President of the Council of States .

biography

Germann was a primary school teacher , studied business economics as a secondary education and completed further training. In addition to his professional and political activities, he sits on various boards of directors with a focus on banking.

In 1983 he was one of the founding members of the SVP Oberhallau section . From 1993 to 1996 he served as the educational counselor and president of the Matura Examination Commission and from 1997 until the end of 2008 when the municipality was dissolved through the merger with Thayngen as the municipality president of Opfertshofen . From 1997 to 2000 he was a member of the Cantonal Council .

Since September 16, 2002, he has represented the Canton of Schaffhausen in the Council of States. At the beginning of the 2011 session, he was elected second vice-president for 2011/2012, at the beginning of the 2012 session he was elected first vice-president for one year and at the beginning of the 2013 session he was elected president for one year.

In addition, he has been President of the Association of Swiss Vegetable Producers (VSGP) since 2009 and therefore also represents the interests of vegetable producers in Parliament.
