Thomas Hurter (born November 1, 1963 in Zurich ; entitled to live in Schaffhausen and Affoltern am Albis ) is a Swiss politician ( SVP ).

Career

Hurter is a former professional military pilot , has been a line pilot ( Swissair / Swiss ) since 1993 and has been an inspector of the SPHAIR professional aptitude assessment since 2002 . He holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh (2007). Since September 2016 he has been the central president of the Swiss Automobile Club (ACS).

In 2003, Hurter became city school councilor and was cantonal councilor in the canton of Schaffhausen from 2005 to 2016 . In the 2007 elections he was elected to the National Council. There he is a member of the Security Policy Commission (from 2013 to 2015 President) and President of the sub-commission “ Tiger Partial Replacement”. He is a member of the Commission for Transport and Telecommunications and President of the Federal Commission for Space Issues (EKWF).

Personal

He has been married to Cornelia Stamm Hurter , a member of the Schaffhausen government council , since 1994 , has two daughters born in 1996 and 1999 and lives in Schaffhausen. In the military he has the rank of captain .
