Thomas Minder (born December 26, 1960 in Schaffhausen ; resident in Biel / Bienne ) is a Swiss entrepreneur and politician (non-party).

Life

After compulsory schooling, Minder attended the École Supérieure de Commerce de Neuchâtel and later graduated from Fordham University in New York with an MBA . In the Swiss Army , he commanded a fusilier company . Minder has been managing director since 1994 and chairman of the board of directors of the cosmetics manufacturer Trybol AG in Neuhausen am Rheinfall , which has been owned by the Minder family since 1963.

Minder became known nationwide through the federal popular initiative he launched in 2008 "against rip-off" , which was adopted on March 3, 2013 with a large majority. It was also the trigger for the federal “ Swissness ” legislation to better protect the Swiss brand. Until his election to the Council of States, Minder held no political office. Minder actively supported the federal popular initiative “Against mass immigration” , which the people accepted on February 9, 2014.

In the Swiss parliamentary elections in 2011 , the non-party minor was elected to the Council of States for the canton of Schaffhausen . After the faction of the Green Liberal Party refused to join the party because it had not been assured, Minder joined the faction of the Swiss People's Party (SVP). In 2015 and 2019 he was re-elected in the first ballot.

Minder lives in Neuhausen am Rheinfall.
