Hans-Dieter Brunowsky

Hans-Dieter Brunowsky (born August 1, 1923 in Dorpat ; † May 22, 2012 in Hamburg ) was a German naval officer, economist and writer.

Life

As the son of a pastor, Brunowsky grew up in Dorpat and went to secondary school in that city. The resettlement of the Baltic Germans under the German-Soviet non-aggression pact brought the family to Posen . He turned on the Hindenburg High School on October 1, 1941, the Notabitur and reported immediately to the navy for active military career. He was deployed on the cruiser Prinz Eugen , the torpedo boat Löwe and on the submarines U 108 and U 3026. As a lieutenant he got in the Wehrmacht's unconditional surrender on 8 May 1945 for two months in British captivity .

After he had until 30 June 1948 completed the high school course for veterans, he studied from summer semester 1949 at the Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen Economics . In 1950 he became active in the Corps Lusatia Leipzig , which was relocated there . After graduating in economics in 1952, he worked from 1953 to 1960 as a mineral oil merchant at Deutsche Shell AG in Augsburg . To help rebuild the Bundeswehr , he signed up for the German Navy in 1961 . He was employed as a first lieutenant at sea , especially in the training of young navies, and served as a cadet officer on the school frigate Hipper . As a lieutenant captain (1962) he was an examining officer at the officer applicant examination center . Then he was auxiliary officer in the Ministry of Defense and the Federal Chancellery , after Speaker of Defense. He particularly devoted himself to questions relating to training and electronic data processing . Promoted to corvette captain and frigate captain, he was appointed lecturer for general leadership at the Bundeswehr leadership academy in 1975. He used his professional experience in a textbook for managers.

Retired since 1980, he was a member of the board of the German High Seas Sports Association HANSA . Erd was mainly responsible for the training of the individual yacht schools. In his son Ralf-Dieter Brunowsky’s BrunoMedia Verlag , he has been publishing the guides for the older generation, mostly written with a grandson, since 2008. The "Grandpa series" had a total circulation of over 222,000 copies.
