Hans-Jürgen Eichhorn (handball player)

Hans-Jürgen "Hannes" Eichhorn (born March 8, 1944 ) is a former German handball player and referee.

Life

Eichhorn, who had previously played handball in Magdeburg and had become GDR triple jump champion as a B and A youth , went to study at the German University of Physical Culture (DHfK) in Leipzig in 1962 and at the same time joined the team of the SC DHfK Leipzig . In 1966, the 1.76-meter left-winger with the SC DHfK won under coach Hans-Gert stone victory in the European Cup of Champions . Also in 1966 he received the award as " Master of Sports ". At the end of his sports studies, Eichhorn presented his thesis "Technique and tactics of the full-back in position 7 in defensive actions against positional attack in indoor handball" in 1971. He was with the SC DHfK GDR champion, he also played 38 international matches for the national team of the German Democratic Republic, in which he scored 62 goals. In 1967 he took part in the World Cup.

In 1971 Eichhorn moved to BSG Post Schwerin and played in the league, the highest division in the country, until 1978. He played for Schwerin in a total of 168 games (league, cup and tournament championship games) and threw 334 goals. From 1980 to 1990 he whistled as a referee matches in the major league. In addition, there were assignments at international level. Later he was a board member and department head at Post Schwerin. At Handball-Bundesliga GmbH he worked as a press attendant and wrote articles for the Schweriner Volkszeitung .

Eichhorn's main job was as a company school teacher specializing in sport.
