Hans-Jochen Marquardt
Hans-Jochen Marquardt (* 1953 in Leipzig ) is a German German studies scholar , exhibition curator and former museum director and cultural politician . His main research interests include Heinrich von Kleist and his environment as well as the history of Reclam's universal library .
Life
Hans-Jochen Marquardt was born in Leipzig in 1953 as the son of the publisher Hans Marquardt . From 1975 to 1981 he studied at the University of Leipzig initially journalism and from 1976 German . In 1984 he was with a thesis on journalism Heinrich von Kleist doctorate . After a postgraduate course in university education in 1988/89 , he completed his habilitation in 1991 under Adam Müller von Nitterdorf (Adam Heinrich Müller).
Between 1990 and 1992 Marquardt was a member of the PDS parliamentary group in the Leipzig city council, after which he left the party. From 1992 to 1995 he taught at the University of South Africa (UNISA) in Pretoria and at the University of Cape Town . From 1996 to 2001 he was director of the Kleist Museum in Frankfurt (Oder) . Between 2002 and 2008 Marquardt was councilor for culture and education in the city of Halle (Saale) . In 2009 he took over the management of the International Relations Department of the National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina in Halle (Saale) for several years .
In 2011, on the initiative of Marquardt, the Literarisches Museum eV association was founded in Leipzig in honor of Reclam . On October 24, 2018, the Reclam Museum opened in Leipzig , whose objects come from Marquardt's extensive private collection of Reclam's Universal Library .
Hans-Jochen Marquardt lives and works in Halle (Saale). In addition to his publication activities, he has been a freelance curator of exhibitions since 2012, for example on Reclam's Universal Library or the life of Wilhelmine von Zenge , Heinrich von Kleist's fiancé and later wife Wilhelm Traugott Krug .
