Hans-Peter Gundermann

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hans-Peter Gundermann (born November 30, 1930 in Magdeburg ; † December 26, 2016 in Hamburg ) was a German lawyer and manager .

Life

Hans-Peter Gundermann, son of civil servant Werner Gundermann and his wife Charlotte, b. Bohne, was confirmed in the St. John's Church of his native Magdeburg. He was the brother of the doctor Knut-Olaf Gundermann . In 1950 his family left Magdeburg, which had been destroyed in the war and later by the Soviet occupiers, for West Germany . Gundermann completed during his legal training in Germany in 1952/53 one semester at Harvard College and in 1961 at the University of Hamburg for Dr. jur. PhD.

Professional activity

From 1961 he worked as a lawyer in Hamburg. In 1966 he took over the legal department of Hamburger Mobil Oi AG and was appointed to the company's board in 1972. In 1974 he attended Harvard Business School .

In the fall of 1990, he took on responsibility for 260,000 employees in 200 large companies as a general representative of the energy trust division, and in this role came under fire. In November 1991 he was given leave of absence from the board of trustees due to dissatisfaction with his services and then fired. Objections were made to the slow progress in privatization measures, for example of the petrol station operator Minol and the Fördergesellschaft Erdöl-Erdgas Gommern , but in particular the efforts of his department to privatize VNG with a statute clause, according to which the transfer of VNG shares would have required the company's approval. When the Berlin VEB Wärmeanlagenbau (WBB) was privatized, the company's economic situation was examined very superficially, but never the financial solvency of the acquiring Swiss company Chematec regarding its own situation there. According to internal audit reports, Gundermann is also said to have given the buyer consortium particularly favorable terms on the sale of the former petrochemical combine (PCK) in Schwedt . Gundermann himself considered the allegations to be unjustified and saw his honor injured by the allegations. Until 1996 he also employed the trust successor organization, the Federal Agency for Unification-Related Special Tasks (BvS), by means of extensive complaints .

From 1992 to 1996 he worked at Ruhrgas AG as a management consultant.

Other engagement

Hans-Peter Gundermann and his wife Adelhaid (⚭ May 7, 1965 in Hamburg; 1 daughter, 1 son), called "Haidi", born von Waldow and granddaughter of the Prussian Lieutenant General Adolf Friedrich Leo Wulf von Waldow , bought the bungalow in 1968 Marienhöhe 45 in the now listed Bewobau-Siedlung Quickborn , which was built in 1962/63 according to the designs of the architect Richard Neutra . He lived there until his death. Due to the division of the residents after the announcement of the subordination by the Schleswig-Holstein State Office for Monument Preservation in February 2005, he founded the Richard-J.-Neutra Society in 2006 as an advocate of monument protection .

For the restoration of Magdeburg Cathedral after reunification , he collected DM 17,000  in donations, and in 2001 another DM 10,000 for the construction of the south tower of his Magdeburg Confirmation Church of St. Johannis.

death

Hans-Peter Gundermann died in Hamburg at the age of 86, leaving behind his wife and children. The funeral service took place in the Quickborn- Hasloh parish .
