Hans Barth (science author)

Hans Barth (born November 13, 1934 in Seiden , Transylvania , † August 4, 2011 in Aschaffenburg ) was a Transylvanian-German journalist and science author . He is best known for his work on the space pioneer Hermann Oberth .

Live and act

Hans Barth was born as the fourth child of Johann Barth and Susanna. Ludwig born. From 1942 he attended a German-language elementary school in Bulkesch and from 1950 to 1954 the technical college for mechanical engineering in Mediasch , from which he graduated with a diploma in energy technology . He then worked as a technician in Temesvar , Bucharest , Mamaia , Konstanza , Mediasch and Blasendorf .

In 1963 he became a specialist journalist for the German-language daily newspaper Neuer Weg for the Kronstadt region . From 1965 to 1970 he studied electrical engineering in the evening course at the University of Kronstadt and in 1970 he worked for research and teaching at the Institute for Electrical Engineering and Electrical Machines. In 1976 he was with the work of optimizing the performance parameters of magneto hydrodynamic phase pumps Dr. Ing. PhD . In 1971 he became the author of the magazine Karpatenrundschau and honorary professor at the Institute for Electrical Engineering and Electrical Machines at the University of Kronstadt.

1973 took part in a space congress in Feucht near Nuremberg and became a member of the Hermann Oberth Society . In 1975 he received the Hermann Oberth Gold Medal at the Space Congress in Garmisch-Partenkirchen . In 1979 he became a member of the board of trustees of the Hermann Oberth Society. In 1982 he took part in the "25 Years Sputnik 1 " congress in Moscow with Hermann Oberth and received the Ziolkowski Medal for services to space travel.

In 1985 he moved to the Federal Republic of Germany and took on German citizenship. He lived with the Oberth family in Feucht. He became a member of the Space History Section of the International Academy of Astronautics . In 1986 he became head of the Hermann Oberth Space Museum in Feucht. From 1987 he was a specialist editor for the new magazine mikroelektronik at VDE-Verlag . He first moved to Bad Homburg vor der Höhe and in 1988 to Offenbach am Main .

In 2001 he took part in Romania in the festivities of the Romanian space agency on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the space flight of Dumitru Dorin Prunariu . He was awarded an anniversary medal by the Romanian President Ion Iliescu .

In 2010 he contracted lung cancer and died on August 4, 2011 in Aschaffenburg.

From 1959 Hans Barth was married to Maria geb. Sander. They had a son (* 1960) and a daughter (* 1963).
