Hans Becker (born December 9, 1888 in Simmern / Hunsrück , † January 15, 1964 in Cologne - Lindenthal ) was a German educator , ministerial official and politician ( SPD ).

Life

Becker attended grammar school in Traben-Trarbach and then completed a degree in philology , history and philosophy at the universities of Tübingen , Berlin and Bonn and completed his studies with a doctorate. phil. from. In 1919 he entered the school service as a teacher. He first taught at the grammar school in Traben-Trarbach and in 1921 switched to a school in Cologne. After being promoted to senior student council, from 1926 he was head of the teaching and culture department at the Rheinland / Hessen-Nassau Provincial School College in Koblenz .

After the seizure of power by the National Socialists Becker in 1933 for political reasons by Law for the Restoration of the Professional Civil Service to take early retirement. His reinstatement application was denied in 1943.

In 1945, Becker was the presidential director at the regional council of Rhineland-Hesse-Nassau in Koblenz, where he was again in charge of the teaching and culture department. He then worked briefly as a teacher at a Koblenz grammar school. From 1946 to 1947 he was a member of the SPD's mixed commission and the advisory state assembly , both bodies that dealt with the drafting of the Rhineland-Palatinate constitution. After the constitution of the state of Rhineland-Palatinate , he moved to the Ministry of Education as a ministerial director in 1947 . From 1947 to 1948 and from 1951 to 1953 he was permanent representative of the Ministers of Education Adolf Süsterhenn and Albert Finck . He was also a member of the Koblenz City Council .

In 1950, Becker received a teaching position at the Philosophical Faculty of Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz and from 1952 worked there as an honorary professor for didactics of ancient languages.
