Hans Borgelt (journalist)

Hans Borgelt (born July 6, 1914 in Osnabrück , † February 17, 2000 in Berlin ) was a German journalist and author .

Life

Among other things, Hans Borgelt attended the Wilhelmsgymnasium in Eberswalde and then studied newspaper science in Berlin at the then Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität . He received his doctorate in 1940 with the writing Development and Structure of the Homeland Section in the Brandenburg newspapers, with special attention to the Eberswalder newspaper history . During the Second World War he worked in the propaganda department in Paris, among other places , where he censored French newspapers. He began his professional career as a culture editor for the Berliner Zeitung . Around 1950 he moved to West Berlin and worked there as a freelance journalist.

From 1953 to 1968 Borgelt was press officer at the Berlin International Film Festival . In the mid-1960s, he began writing screenplays for film and television. In 1969 the 6-part documentary Star unter Sternen was created about the film greats Zarah Leander , Heinz Rühmann , Hans Albers , Gert Fröbe , Willy Fritsch and Heinrich George . In the 1970s, Borgelt wrote, among other things, the series The Cases of Mr. Konstantin and the screenplay for the film adaptation of the Erich Kästner novel Fabian . His last work was in the mid-1990s, two episodes for the series For all cases Stefanie .

In addition, Borgelt wrote novels, chronicles about Berlin and the UFA and biographies about Lilian Harvey and Grethe Weiser as a book author . Based on the script for the film Didi and the Revenge of the Disinherited by and with Dieter Hallervorden , the novel of the same name was written in 1985.

Borgelt was a school and college colleague of the journalist Gerhard Dengler and a cousin of the actor Peter Borgelt .

Hans Borgelt died on February 17, 2000 at the age of 85 in Berlin. His grave is in the Wannsee II cemetery .
