Hans Christoffel

Hans Christoffel (born June 27, 1888 in Aarau ; † April 8, 1959 ) was a Swiss psychiatrist and psychoanalyst .

Christoffel grew up in Basel . He studied medicine at the University of Basel (with a semester abroad at the University of Vienna ) and graduated with a state examination and doctorate . He worked as a volunteer at the general polyclinic of the Basel Citizens' Hospital . From 1914 to 1920 he was an assistant doctor at the Burghölzli psychiatric clinic in Zurich. He then opened a psychiatric practice in Basel.

From 1946 to 1948 Christoffel was President of the Swiss Society for Psychology .

In 1916 Christoffel married Margarethe Schmidt, daughter of the geologist Carl Schmidt . They had four children.
