Hans Fürst (chemist)

Hans Paul Karl Fürst (born October 6, 1909 in Berlin ; † August 17, 2001 in Dresden ) was a German chemist.

Hans Fürst passed his Abitur at a Berlin high school in 1928. Until 1931 he studied chemistry at the TH Berlin-Charlottenburg . Fürst then completed an internship at Osram in Berlin-Moabit . From 1936 to 1938 he continued his studies at the TH. In 1937 he passed his diploma, in 1938 he also received his doctorate from the TH Berlin-Charlottenburg . After he had accepted an assistant position in 1938, he did military service from 1939 to 1941. From 1940 to 1945 he was chief engineer at the TH Braunschweig . Here he completed his habilitation in 1944 and then worked as a private lecturer in organic chemistry . In 1945 he worked in Braunschweig as a chemist and operations manager at Pharmazie GmbH Braunschweig .

From 1948 to 1953 he worked in Magdeburg - Salbke as a chemist and department head at VEB Fahlberg-List . During this time he lived in the Westerhüsen district at Alt Westerhüsen 175 in the immediate vicinity of the plant. His neighbor in this no longer existing house was his colleague Ernst Schmitz . In 1951 he was also a lecturer for methods of organic chemistry at the University of Halle-Wittenberg .

In 1953 he became a professor at the TH Dresden . He initially had a teaching position in special areas of organic chemistry. In 1961 he received the chair for organic-technical chemistry and became director of the corresponding institute. From 1969 to 1974 he was a full professor for technical chemistry at the chemistry section of the Technical University of Dresden. Fürst died in Dresden in 2001 and was buried in the Dölzschen cemetery.
