Hans Fredrik Grøvan (born November 1, 1953 in Kristiansand ) is a Norwegian politician of the Kristelig Folkeparti (KrF). He has been a member of parliament in Storting since 2013 .

life and career

Grøvan received the cand.polit. majored in education and then worked as a primary school teacher, headmaster and tutor. From 1983 to 1984 he was a lecturer at Finnmark University and from 1984 to 1989 academic rector at NLA Høgskolen in Bergen . He was also a board member of the Fjellhaug Bible and International School, the NLA Høgskolen, NLA Mediehøgskolen Gimlekollen and the Agder College .

Grøvan was a local councilor in Lenvik from 1979 to 1983 and mayor of Lyngdal from 1995 to 2007 . He was also deputy chairman of the board of Kristelig Folkeparti (KrF) from 2000 to 2006 and district manager of KrF Vest-Agden from 2011 to 2013.

Grøvan was Vararepresentant from Vest-Agder im Storting from 2011 to 2005 and from 2009 to 2013 . In the parliamentary elections in 2013 he was elected MP from Vest-Agder. On December 1, 2016, he was named the top candidate of KrF Vest-Agder for the 2017 general election, in which he was re-elected. Since January 2019 he has been chairman of the KrF faction in Storting. He sat on the Committee on Transport and Communications from 2013 to 2017, on the Control and Constitutional Committee from 2013 to 2019, and has been a member of the Committee on Education and Research since 2017. In 2014 he played an essential role in the revision of the Basic Law.

Grøvan was also CEO of Agder Energi from 2002 to 2005 and project manager at Senter for livsmestring from 2007 to 2010 . From 2011 to 2015 he was also chairman of the board of Beit Skandinavia , a Haifa- based association that promotes Israeli-Norwegian relations . From 2013 to 2017 Grøvan was a deputy member of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe .

In March 2020, Grøvan announced that he did not want to run again for a seat in Storting.
