Hans Gasser (politician, 1902)

Hans Gasser (born June 24, 1902 in Lungern ; † December 20, 1985 ) was a Swiss politician ( Catholic-conservative ) and entrepreneur.

Life

Gasser was the son of Franz Gasser, owner of a carpentry shop, and Marie Gasser, nee. Ming. He completed an apprenticeship as a carpenter and married Hedwig Vogler. Gasser was considered an innovative specialist in chalet construction and was director and president of Holzbau AG in Lungern from 1958. He is the father of Hans-Heini and Albert Gasser and the grandfather of Luke Gasser .

Gasser was from 1933 to 1947 in the local council in Lungern-Dorf, which he presided from 1945 to 147 and from 1944 to 1952 he was a local councilor and local councilor of Lungern (1950-1952 president). From 1952 to 1964 he was a member of the government of the canton of Obwalden , where he worked as building director, as had his brother Franz Gasser before and later his son Hans-Heini Gasser . In 1960 and 1962 he was Landammann . At the Landsgemeinde in 1964, he resigned as a councilor for health reasons. From 1963 to 1971 he was the Swiss National Councilor . In this office he campaigned for a medium-sized economic policy and the mountain areas.
