Hans Gebhard (composer)

Hans Gebhard (born August 18, 1897 in Dinkelsbühl ; † October 2, 1974 in Augsburg ) was a German composer and music teacher .

Gebhard studied composition and organ at the Academy of Music in Munich , with Joseph Haas among others . From 1929 he worked as a school and music teacher in his hometown of Dinkelsbühl. In 1936 he went to the University for Teacher Education in Würzburg as a lecturer in music education , where in 1940 he became city music director and, from April 1, 1942, he was the successor of student teacher Eduard Eichler, city music officer. From 1949 he represented the subject of music education at the teacher training institute in Lauingen (Danube) . After it was moved to Augsburg as a pedagogical university in 1956 , he was appointed professor there.

He wrote symphonic works, requiems, a Missa Gotica and concertos for piano and violoncello.

His brothers Max and Ludwig were also musicians.
