Life's work

Hans Gerhard Biermann created significant new church facilities throughout the FRG and in Berlin, which often encompass the entire interior design. So in St. Josef in Iserlohn 1974 or St. Augustinus in Berlin-Lankwitz 1995. His designs always keep the overall architecture in view.

As an architect, he designed several outdoor sculptures, fountains and wall designs in public and private spaces, including the fountain in the pedestrian zone of Bremerhaven from 1980, the majolica relief in the entrance hall of the St. Petrus Hospital in Bonn in 1978 and the Markusbrunnen in Bergheim (Troisdorf) from 1998 in basalt lava .

The first spectacular memorial is the 9.20 meter high four-sided cross with four angels as the four winds for the school class who crashed in the railway accident in Dahlerau , which is in the cemetery in Radevormwald . Another cenotaph, Three Young Men in the Fiery Furnace, can be found in the Bad Breisig cemetery . In the house-high free sculpture The Four Elements at the Bürgerhalle in Kottenheim (Basalt 1998) he draws on the monumental effect of the Stonehenge in England or on archaic large sculptures in the natural form of the local basalt steles.

He has also created numerous designs for small sculptures, medals, and liturgical and profane devices. In 1999 he created the design and execution of the bishop's staff for Bishop Felix Genn in Münster.
