Hans Hahne (born November 30, 1894 in Berlin ; † June 24, 1944 near Vitebsk (missing)) was a German officer , most recently major general in World War II .

Life

Hahnemann came forward after the outbreak of the First World War as a volunteer in the Emperor Franz Grenadier Guards Regiment. 2, . From March 22nd to May 12th 1915 he was ordered to attend the officer-aspirant training course in the Warta camp . After his promotion to Lieutenant in the Reserve on May 14, 1915, he was transferred to Reserve Infantry Regiment No. 209 on May 21, 1915 . Hahne was appointed adjutant of the 2nd Battalion on June 8, 1915 . He held this position until the end of the war. He was then assigned from November 24, 1918 for a month to lead the battalion and then transferred to the regiment's dissolution staff. After this was dissolved on March 10, 1919, he was transferred to the Hauptkadettenanstalt and on April 13, 1919, he was released from military service.

Hahne joined with the entry into the storm battalion Schmidt a volunteer corps and was entrusted with the management of the business as a hearing officer. On May 15, 1919, he was promoted to the staff as an orderly officer. Nine months later, he was the battalion's adjutant. Hahne was then integrated with his battalion into the Reichswehr Infantry Regiment 30 on April 11, 1920 and transferred to the 115 Infantry Regiment on September 1, 1920. On January 1, 1921, he began his service in the 9th (Prussian) Infantry Regiment . Here he remained in various functions as welfare officer and company commander until October 1, 1934. On April 1, 1925, he was first lieutenant and on November 1, 1929 captain . From October 1, 1934 until his transfer on October 15, 1935 as a teacher at the Hanover War School, Hahne acted as a regimental adjutant of the Crossen Infantry Regiment. From November 10, 1938 he served as a battalion commander in Infantry Regiment 22 and from August 26, 1939 in Infantry Regiment 364.

With the unit renamed the 371 Infantry Regiment, Hahne took part as regimental commander after the beginning of the Second World War in the western campaign as part of the 161st Infantry Division . On August 15, 1940, he was transferred as a commander to the 507 Infantry Regiment of the 292nd Infantry Division . Hahne commanded this regiment in the German-Soviet War until the beginning of 1944 and was then briefly transferred to the Führerreserve . From March 14, 1944, Hahne was entrusted with the command of the 197th Infantry Division , which was part of the 3rd Panzer Army under the leadership of Colonel General Georg-Hans Reinhardt .

Hahne has been missing in the Vitebsk pocket since June 24, 1944, in the course of the Soviet attacks in Operation Bagration . He was posthumously promoted to major general on July 1, 1944 .
