Hans Hammond Rossbach

Hans Hammond Rossbach (born October 16, 1931 in Kristiansund , Fylke Møre og Romsdal ; † August 7, 2012 ) was a Norwegian politician from the left-wing liberal Venstre , who was a member of the Storting for twenty years and was its vice-president between 1969 and 1972. He was also chairman of Venstre from 1976 to 1982.

Life

After Rossbach graduated from the public high school ( Offentlige Høyere Allmennskole ) in Kristiansund in 1950 with a degree in English , he did his military service with the 521 brigade of the military police between 1951 and 1952 . He then worked for the savings bank in Kristiansund from 1952 to 1958 and also attended a course in taxation at the Otto Treider Commercial School, which he completed with an exam in 1956. In 1957 he was named cand. Oec. Teacher at the Kristiansund vocational school, before he was secretary for regional planning in Møre og Romsdal from 1958 to 1959 and then until 1960 editor of the business newspaper and secretary of the Central Statistical Office (Statistisk Sentralbyrå ) was. After attending a pedagogical seminar, he worked as a lecturer at theKristiansund grammar school between 1960 and 1995.

During this time he was involved in local politics and between 1963 and 1967 was both a member of the municipal council of Kristiansund and a member of the provincial assembly ( Fylkesting ) of Møre og Romsdal. In the elections of September 13, 1965 , Rossbach was elected for the first time as a member of the Storting and represented various constituencies in Fylke Møre og Romsdal for twenty years until 1985 . During his long membership in parliament, he was a member of various committees such as Finance and Customs, Municipal Affairs and Environment, Protocol, Shipping and Fisheries, Industry, and Foreign Affairs and the Constitution, and was also a delegate to the General Assembly of the United Nations . At the same time was between 1967 and 1971 a member of the Kristiansund City Council .

On October 8, 1969 he was vice-president of Storting and held this office until October 1, 1972. After that, Rossbach was from December 9, 1972 to September 30, 1973 deputy chairman of the faction of the Venstre in Storting, before moving on October 1 1973 became chairman of the Venstre group. He held this position until he left Storting on September 30, 1985.

In addition, Rossbach succeeded Eva Kolstad as chairman of Venstre in 1976 and held this position until he was replaced by Odd Einar Dørum in 1982.

After leaving the Storting, he returned to school in 1985 and taught as a lecturer at the secondary school Atlanten Videregående Skole until 1991 . In addition, between 1986 and 1991 he was a lecturer and examiner for social economics at the Institute for Business Administration ( Bedriftsøkonomisk Institutt ), for which he worked as a guest examiner until 1993.
