Hans Hartmann (musician)
Hans Hartmann (born March 3, 1942 in St. Gallen ) is a Swiss jazz bassist and Chapman stick player.
Hartmann was initially a member of Marcel Bernasconi's trio and, after completing his training at the Zurich Conservatory, was honored in 1967 as the best jazz bassist in Switzerland. At that time he accompanied the blues musician champion Jack Dupree and played in a modern jazz quartet with Remo Rau , Jürg Grau and Peter Candiotto. Since 1968 he worked in Germany, where he first recorded with the Emil Mangelsdorff Swingers , and in 1974 he became a member of Guru Guru for a year and a half . Then he worked again in the jazz field. He played u. a. with Tomasz Stańko and Zbigniew Seifert (CD “Purple Sun”, 1973), with Attila Zoller , Häns'che Weiss and Chet Baker , but also went on tour with Hannes Wader and Lydie Auvray . In recent years he has been primarily active in the field of world music .
Hartmann lives in Berlin .
