Hans Hoff (journalist)

Hans Hoff (born August 4, 1955 in Düsseldorf ) is a German journalist and media critic . From 1990 to 1999 he was media editor for the Rheinische Post in Düsseldorf.

Live and act

Hans Hoff went to Geschwister-Scholl-Gymnasium in Düsseldorf and studied social pedagogy and worked as a social pedagogue for the Düsseldorf youth welfare office. According to his own admission, he then “slipped” into journalism through the first reports for the music magazine Sounds . Articles that he wrote under the name Hansi Hoff can be found in Sounds since September 1979. Later he also wrote for the Musikexpress . As a music reviewer for the Rheinische Post and the Neue Rhein Zeitung , he gained a reputation as a feared critic in the 1980s. After an internship, he worked from 1990 to 1999 as a media editor for the Rheinische Post in Düsseldorf.

Since 1999 he has been writing as a freelance journalist for the media site of the Süddeutsche Zeitung . Later I worked as a freelancer for Rolling Stone and for the NRW edition of Welt am Sonntag . Hoff always emphasizes that his freelance work enables him to work independently as a critic outside the boulevard . He also speaks for the WDR-5 magazine political issue regular media columnist . He has also headed the music section of the Düsseldorf free culture magazine Biograph for over 20 years .

Since June 2013 he has been writing reviews of TV programs and his opinion on current events in the media for the online magazine DWDL.de in the column Das Hoff zum Sonntag .

More recently he has conducted interviews with Stefan Raab and Spiegel boss Georg Mascolo .

Also since 2013 Hoff has been active as a singer in the two-man project Fools On A Hill and in the blues band "Old Love". In 2015 he was a member of the jury for the Grimme Prize in the entertainment category.
