Hans Jessen (born July 31, 1949 in Barsinghausen ) is a German television journalist who became known to a wide audience through his work as a correspondent in the ARD capital studio.

biography

Jessen is a grandson of the Berlin architect Hans Jessen (1874–1930) and nephew of the historian and newspaper scholar Hans Jessen (1897–1979).

Jessen attended the Tellkampf School in Hanover . He studied political science, sociology and German at the University of Hanover , where he was chairman of the Asta . He completed his studies with the state examination. From 1977 Jessen worked as a freelancer for various newspapers, NDR and ZDF . Since 1980 he worked at the NDR, first as a freelancer, and later as a permanent editor in the time radio . In 1986 he switched to Radio Bremen , where he worked as a reporter, presenter and head of the service for the regional magazine buten un binnen . Since 1994 he has been a long-time member of an international team of trainers for television journalists at Circom Regional .

In 1999 Jessen went to the new Berlin ARD capital studio as a correspondent. After returning to his old position at Radio Bremen in 2006, he moved back to the capital city studio in 2010. There he was a reporter for Tagesschau and Tagesthemen and head of the report service from Berlin until he retired in 2014 .

Since 2015, Hans Jessen has been working as a freelance journalist and publicist as well as a moderator of political and cultural events. In addition, he has been a regular guest in Waking Up since 2017 ! -Podcast and has been a regular co-moderator of the live interview format Jung & Live since 2020 .

According to his own statements , the focus of his work is on foreign policy , education and research policy , environmental policy and development cooperation as well as the Left Party and the Greens .
