Hans Noll
Hans Noll is a former German natural track luge . The seven-time German champion started for the WSV Unterammergau and was one of the most internationally successful German natural track tobogganers in single-seater from the late 1980s. With his seventh place at the 1990 World Championships , he still holds the best World Championship result for a German natural track luge in a single-seater.
Career
Noll's first international championships were the European Junior Championships in 1984 in Hol and 1985 in Oberperfuss , in which he achieved 28th and 20th placings in midfield and back midfield. In his first championships in the general class, the European championships in 1985 in Szczyrk and 1987 in Jesenice and the world championships in 1986 in Fénis , he also remained behind the top field with placements beyond the top 30. At the European Championships in 1989 in Garmisch-Partenkirchen , he then managed to join the extended world elite with tenth place in the single-seater. Before that, only one German had made it into the top 10 at European championships in a single-seater, namely Josef Spindler in 1973 . Noll achieved the best international placement a year later at the 1990 World Cup in Gsies . With his seventh place, he was the first German to make it into the top 10 at world championships and to this day this position is the best of a German single-seater at world championships. In the next few years followed with an 18th place at the 1992 World Championships in Bad Goisern and 14th place each at the 1993 European Championships in Stein an der Enns and the 1994 World Championships in Gsies, three top 20 results before his last international major event, the 1996 World Cup in Oberperfuss, when tenth finished again in the top 10. In the European Cup he had reached second place in 1991 on his home track in Unterammergau .
At the national level, Noll was also successful in the two-seater. In addition to four German championship titles in the single-seater in 1989, 1990, 1991 and 1996, he and his club colleagues Thomas Speer (1989) and Vitus Gansler (1991 and 1992) won three German championships in the two-seater. Since 2009 Noll has been the 1st chairman of the WSV Unterammergau.
