Natural Track Luge World Championship 1986

The fifth FIL - natural track luge World Cup took place from 22 to 23 February 1986 in Fénis - Aosta in Italy instead.

Gerhard Pilz became world champion in the single seater and won the only medal for Austria at this World Cup, all others went to the host country Italy. The silver medal was won by Damiano Lugon , who had already won two silver medals in single-seater in 1979 and 1980 and was world champion in doubles in 1979. The third placed Harald Steinhauser won his first medal at major events.

Irmgard Lanthaler , who won the bronze medal two years ago, became world champion in single-seater. The reigning European and three-time world champion Delia Vaudan won silver . Third-placed Helga Pichler won her only World Championship medal with bronze.

Almir Betemps and Corrado Herin won their first world championship title in the two-seater. In the previous year they were runner-up at the European Championships. The winners of the last two world championships, Andreas Jud and Ernst Oberhammer , won the silver medal. Arnold Lunger and Günther Steinhauser came in third .
