Natural Track Luge World Championship 1980

The second FIL - natural track luge World Cup took place from 29 January to 3 February 1980 in Moos in Passeier in South Tyrol ( Italy instead).

In the men's singles - as in the women - all medals went to the host country Italy. World champion was Erich Graber , who had won bronze the previous year. As in the previous year, Damiano Lugon won silver and Otto Bachmann won bronze . Defending champion Werner Prantl from Austria did not finish.

As with the men, all the medals for the women went to Italy. Last year's world champion, Delia Vaudan , successfully defended her title. The silver medal was won by Christa Fontana , for whom it was the only World Cup medal, but who was second at the European Championship in 1979. As in the previous year, the bronze medal was won by Roswitha Fischer .

In the two-seater, the Italians Oswald Pörnbacher and Raimund Pigneter won ahead of their compatriots Martin Jud and Harald Steinhauser . The only medal at this World Championship for Austria went to third-placed Werner Mücke and Helmut Hutter , who were second last year.
