The Austrian Alfred Kogler - bronze medalist in the doubles - became world champion in the men's singles. The silver medal went to the Italian Giuseppe Cerise , for whom it was the only medal at major events. Third-placed Willi Danklmaier from Austria won his first World Cup medal.

The Italian Delia Vaudan became the single-seater world champion for the third time after 1979 and 1980. Second-placed Paula Peintner , also from Italy, won bronze at the last World Cup. Third was Irmgard Lanthaler , who also belongs to the Italian association. As in 1980, only Italian women were on the podium.

The Italians Andreas Jud and Ernst Oberhammer successfully defended their title in the two-seater . The silver medal was won by Martin Jud and Harald Steinhauser , also from Italy, who had already won silver four years ago. Third place went to the Austrians Alfred Kogler - world champion in single-seater - and Franz Huber . The European champions from 1981 finished second at the last World Cup.
